Cardiff City F.C. 2019 Salary Cap - https://www.spotrac.com/epl/cardiff-city-f.c/payroll/
12k a week according to this one.
Although they got Alex Smithies on 30k a week. That can’t be right.
I don’t think they will be given a lump at the start of a 3/4 year deal. Any signing on fee will be staggered across the course of the contract.Smithies is supposed to be the highest paid player at the club. If true, no wonder there were rumours that he wanted to join us a good 12 months before he did.
£12K for Madine makes more sense, but still not big bucks by today's Championship standards. Like I said above, the salary figure does't include the lump sum incentive to join in the first place.

The reason that the Sala contract was rejected by the FA was because the signing on fee agreed was too high. I don't know what the rules are, but I reckon if a club is desperate enough to get someone in, and let's be fair, we were with both Madine and Sala, then they may well have to offer a bigger lump sum up front, maybe in lieu of salary.
Sorry, I can’t see that being the case. The Premier League is obscene in terms of transfer fees and wages. I doubt Salas signing on fee was so huge that it was blocked.
Anyway, different kettle of fish, theres no way we are paying Gary Madine millions up front just to sign for us.
Can’t have been that widely reported, can’t find anything online easily that says the reason that the FA rejected the transfer because of the signing on fee.No, but it might have been a few hundred thousand.
It was widely reported as being the reason why the Sala contract was sent back to City for amendment and resigning. Of course, the plane crash happened during the process and that opened the whole can of worms as to whether he was a contracted player.
The contractual thing is mentioned in this piece from May and I am sure that more information came out later. Can’t have been that widely reported, can’t find anything online easily that says the reason that the FA rejected the transfer because of the signing on fee.

No, as I said, there was something that came out later. I am sure that I didn't imagine thatDoesn’t give any reason for the contractual discrepancies
