Sorry Steve hijaked the thread. I will stop now. Just seeing The' Kumar' trophy brings it all back.

Shamesh Kumar also gave us Phil Neal, Russell Osman and Kenny Hibbitt. Generous to a fault he was.

I promise you this is a true story I used to sit behind kumar and joan hill in the directors box wth steve back in the day. every game kumar would send joan down with a note for Kenny hibbert to make substitutions of which he did without fail. to cut a long story short he sacked Kenny despite the fact he was virtually picking the team and put Russell Osman in charge. the first time he sent the note down it came back with fuck off written on it. there then ensued a huge row in the boardroom after the game and that's the reason Russell only lasted a few games but had my utmost respect. I will post some more pictures and tell you a story about phil neal later

when you mentioned phil Neale it took me back to when he used to come in the boardroom after every game and eventually it would get around to him bragging about his trophy haul with liverpool
there was a club secretary then called Jim Finney an ex referee and an absolute gentleman who used to tell me tales of when he was refereeing European games in Italy they would try to send top class hookers up to his room to either bribe him or blackmail him if he bit.
back to phil Neale the only trophy he never won was the fa cup and I don't know if you recall the final they lost to man utd but he had a chance to clear the winner off the line and got his feet muddled up. well Jim was on him like a rash every time he started bragging and call across the room to him and pretend he was kicking the ball off the line and say that's all you had to do phil ffs a simple little block and you would have the full compliment of medals. but as it stands you let yourself, your club and millions of Liverpool fans around the world down.
phil Neale would always storm off in a huff but every time he started bragging again the same scenario would play out
