Without it sounding like a mod pile on, you're very wide of the mark. A traditional sausage in a bun, whatever the shape, does not make a hotdog.

A hot dog should come from a tin, or a jar if you're middle class like me, and should be heated in water. Anything that needs frying or grilling is a sausage.

As an aside, in my younger days I lived in a shared house with a man who used to eat sausages in iced buns. Said they were lovely. I never had the inclination to find out if he was telling the truth or not.

The Flaming Grill pub-restaurant chain used to do a doughnut burger, in a glazed ring doughnut. Never had one, but my brother thought it was decent.
