The Benkovic comments were really poor imo, lost a bit of respect for him after that.

I think that and the comment about the culture at the club is Harris deliberately giving the board other reasons to fire him. If they do, presumably his contract will have to be paid up to some extent, but more so than if he walks. I can imagine that he is close to that at the moment, which is what he did at Millwall.

so as you guys know I am moving from Nanjing to Hangzhou at the end of the month. My new local team is Hangzhou Greentown and they currently play in China division 1 which the (2nd tier) in China. Hangzhou got the play off final last season and lost. This season Promotion is expected. Unlike most clubs in China, Hangzhou doesn't pay big bucks for foreign players, they are very much a club that's focused on developing local Chinese players. The club's model is very similar to Atletico Bilbao or Real Sociadad and is known for having the best academy in China ( A Chinese striker who's attracted interest from a number of clubs in Europe, also West Brom in the premier league called Yunning Zhang came through Hangzhou's academy as an example, he now plays for Beijing) . A couple of days ago they just hired Jordi Vinyals as their new head coach. Vinyals had coached Barcelona youth teams and the Barcelona B team if the first half of the decade. So this coach has a track record of developing players at one of the worlds best academies. I think it's a really good fit and exciting appointment for Hangzhou despite him not being a 'household' name.

I just wonder whether someone like him is someone who Cardiff should be looking at. There are many great coaches at clubs like Porto, Benfica, Ajax, Lille, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Barca, Madrid etc... who either coaches in the academies, or is on the backroom staff but highly regarded. These coaches often wants to forge their own path eventually. Surely it would be worth a gamble to take a punt on one of these coaches and seeing how they can do.

Far more of those punts fail than come off, so I don't think that's likely to happen.

One of the few players that almost had as many clubs as Jack Nicholson.

Looks like me times up fellas, just remember all the good times like, um, ummm, well you get the idea. It’s been emotional.

I’m off to spend my 3 years worth of pay in the Maldives, before taking up the Fleetwood job.

@Rydogsccfc I know you’re going to cry yourself to sleep tonight but move on, one day you’ll lose your virginity and stop fantasising over me.

I saw Neil Harris's interview after the game and I didn't like it one bit to be honest. He sounded like someone who knows he could be sacked within a matter of hours and tried to protect his reputation whilst throwing the players, the club and even the previous manager Warnock under the buss in the process.
Didn't he blame benkovic for the wycombe defeat :hehe:but not the shit players that's got us in this mess?

He did. That was a pretty shitty thing to do as well, especially given he’d not played first team football in something like a year.

How many goals has Nelson, Bennett, Bacuna cost us this season? They’re still first names on the team sheet.

Very disappointed in Harris for that.

He couldn't look after the youth team properly

He won the league with them. Anyway he wouldn’t be looking after the youth team, he’d be managing men. It’s a different job entirely isn’t it.
I’d love us to give him his first shot in management, and I think he would be a hugely popular choice with the fans.

Anyone who has followed Craig Bellamy since he went into coaching and has read his interviews and his viewpoint on the game surely cannot fail to be impressed. I really think the club need to have a serious think about what’s it’s trying to achieve and how it’s going about it.

Love his passion and the way he talks about the game but the biggest thing I would take away from that is how much he is loving it there and that he would be highly unlikely to come here even if offered the job. Maybe the lure of a managerial position would be enough but that’s not what I get trying to read between the lines.

You might be right there, he certainly seems to be enjoying his time there and being involved with a well run club is probably a breath of fresh air for him after working at the city.

He is obviously a very proud Welshman and clearly Ioves the games and lives and breathes football and I just get the feeling that his aim is to bring his experiences home and use them here and I think that if he were allowed to come in and do his thing he would jump at the opportunity.
