Cardiff are lining up a move to sign Wolves midfielder Ryan Giles, Football Insider understands.

There is interest from multiple Championship clubs in the English 21-year-old this summer.

A recruitment source told Football Insider that Cardiff are leading the chase because of Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor’s Molineux links as well as their proven track record of developing players.

McCarthy is said to be a huge admirer of the young left-sided midfielder and regards him as a rising star.

The Welsh club are keen on taking Giles on a season-long loan deal.

Giles signed a new contract with Wolves in December last year committing him to the club until 2025.

Giles – who won the Wolves Academy Player of the Year award in 2018 – spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan with Rotherham in the Championship.

Matty James, 29. Contract ended at Leicester - spent last season on loan at Barnsley and Coventry. Bristol City also interested - allegedly. Paper/agent talk?

Cardiff City have joined Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Huddersfield Town in the race to sign Solihull Moors attacker Kyle Hudlin.

Cardiff City are ‘asking around’ about the National League striker, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter (see tweet below).

Hudlin, who stands at 6ft 9inc, is a man in-demand this summer and could be on his way to the Football League.

He caught the eye for Solihull last season and scored 10 goals in all competitions.

The youngster only joined the Moors last October from Midland League Division Two side Solihull United but adapted well to the step up to the fifth tier and is being tipped for a bright future int he game.

He had previously played for other non-league clubs Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons.
