This just gives a prime example of the value that RMT members are to the rest of society. Surely that 'value' should be compensated fairly and not be subject to arbitrary erosion of both pay and working conditions.

People going to hospitals by train is a new one. I'm sure it's true to a small extent but clearly a part of a new narrative. Divide and conquer and know your place plebs. Plenty about the £16bn given to the railway in the pandemic but bankers were never given wage constraints or advice despite their industry actually causing the problem thar required a massive bailout.

Well said Bri. No employer/corporate industry/government agency award good pay and conditions through good will or the kindness of their heart. What used to bug me was when non union members used to chops off when industrial action was threatened or taken, but kept quiet when good pay awards and T%Cs were won. Freeloaders!

Mick Lynch has been great value in the interviews I’ve seen of him so far. He made Kay Burley from sky look a right mug yesterday.

The govt has got itself into a right pickle, driven by 25 years of house price/ home ownership insanity. How do you tackle the inflation? Put the interest rates up. How will people pay their mortgages and other bills that are spiralling out of control? The only way is for wages to maintain pace with inflation… but that causes more inflation…

I’m genuinely concerned for this winter. I think disorder on the scale not seen since the 70s & early 80s is inevitable.

l don't know how many of you have been on strike during your working lives but I've suffered that fate on quite a few occasions, in various jobs.Yes there's plenty of banter and big talk but honestly you dread the day coming and it really is a last resort.It goes against everything you've been brought up to do.the work ethic instilled into you,but sometimes there really is no alternative

l don't wish it on the British public,but I really hope the NHS professionals come out,the one group of people who the public still have a modicum of respect for,unlike the teaching profession which has suffered from a media witch hunt....then I hope people will force the government hand

We need strong independent unions who can bypass mainstream media, instead of being a hostage to it. Unions that can motivate the great mass of people, to protest against a government which is so clearly devoted and committed to self interest.

It’s not like the union is expensive neither, where I used to work ther was a fella that started the same time as me and they pulled the old fire and rehire trick I was a union member he wasn’t and had the same trope as you explained well I had 3 grand in compo and he got zero he soon joined after

UK inflation is largely imported and so wage rises are not going to fuel that. What we have here is the old argument of the 1970s, except Thatcherism has happened since then and we currently have workers being made to feel angry at other workers. There is a bit of jealousy being bred too "Look how much this striker earns compared to you". It's toxic.

Also, the Government today said they were looking to reduce pay restrictions for City bosses, to encourage more people to work here. So, wage restraint isn't always the answer according to them.

This is typical toryism of people doing well for themselves despising and hating anyone who is doing better. Pathetic that we still fall into these blatant traps.
