A centre forward who had started out with his home town side and then played for a while at Portsmouth during World War I. He joined City and spent most of his time in the reserves where he became a prolific goalscorer, although never imposed himself in the first team. He dropped down the League to play at Wrexham, to the tune of 23 goals in 40 League matches, before returning to South Wales to the ailing Aberdare Athletic for the 1926-27 season where he featured in 31 League matches in which he scored 19 goals. In 1927 he transferred to Torquay United where he got another 6 goals in 20 League matches. Once his professional football days were over, he became a shopkeeper in Cardiff. Jimmy Jones died in 1977.
