Anyone heading to the Newbridge vaccination centre in the coming days @Dr Lecter I know you're one of them, please allow plenty of extra time to get there. So far it's taken 90 mins and still stuck in traffic

Risk as stated in the Guardian live blog is 4 people affected every million. So basically negligable...

None of which was known when EU kicked off; the issue seems to be around younger people yet EU staff claimed it was unsafe for over 65s with zero evidence at the time....

Not read the article then eh? They're not giving it to younger people because the risk from covid is less than the risk from blood clots. The opposite is true for older folk.

Probably still higher risk of covid in young people than clots I would say, although much reduced

But no the issue, isn't "around young people" as some simpletons might say

I assume you've not read the article you linked.

Can you point out where in that article it says the "risk from covid is less than the risk from blood clots"?

EDIT:

From the article ( see, I read it... )

"Dr June Raine, of the MHRA, said the side-effects were "extremely rare" - and more work was going to identify if the vaccine was definitely causing the clots."

All right, I got that from the BBC live page which linked to the article I posted.

"AstraZeneca jab benefits still 'favourable for vast majority'
More from that announcement from the MHRA that under-30s in the UK will be offered an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab.
It says the side-effects of the Oxford vaccine were extremely rare and the vaccine's effectiveness is proven.
The regulator says the benefits of taking the vaccine are still very favourable for the vast majority.
But it concedes it is more finely balanced for younger people because the risk from Covid was so much lower.
People who have had their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine should still get their second dose. Only those who suffered one of these rare blood clots after the first dose should not get vaccinated, the MHRA said.
The review prompted the government's vaccine advisory group, the JCVI, to recommend that people aged 18 to 29 be offered an alternative vaccine where available.
People with blood disorders that leave them at risk of clotting should discuss the benefits and risks of vaccination with their doctor before going for a jab.

Meaning the risk from Covid was so much lower for younger people than older people, not that the clotting risk was higher than that of covid for younger people.

Was there some sort of accident then?

My old girl went there last week on the free bus thing. She said they were there in 20 minutes.

That's what I said. The risk from clotting was higher than the risk from Covid.

It was gridlocked, with everyone all trying to get to the vaccine centre, so was backed up on the last stretch of the A472. Might've just been a bad day and/or delays get longer as the day goes on :shrug2:
