Bit odd considering we're being told and shown pictures of empty shelves that the shortages here for the same stuff is due to stuff coming from the EU....

I'm really struggling food wise to get anything that isn't mass produced and shit. "Fresh" is an optional extra for fruit and veg in supermarkets and Asda have taken to selling green bananas in Brynmawr. A sure sign the supply chain is fucked because bananas are still the fastest selling fruit, and that supply was more or less nailed. The bananas I bought last week are still green ffs. :hehe:

I haven't seen the reverse happen either. I haven't seen the mongers groaning under cheaper British produce. Avalanches of prawns, mussels, salmon and mackerel that couldn't be moved abroad. I was hoping that this might be an actual dividend. That instead of selling all our best shit abroad we'd eat it all ourselves.

I can only go on my local stores (not disputing anyone else's experience) but my local Co-op and Tesco Express dont seem to have any issues with fresh produce...or anything else that I can see. Always plentiful and to the point where they tend to sell off a fair bit at reduced prices on a daily basis.
My son does a few shifts at Tesco at Talbot Green alongside his college work and was asking him throughout the summer if there seems to be shortages and his response has been only the odd thing.

Luck of the draw maybe

EDIT. The main shortage he mentioned was decent chuff....!!

It's fair to say you have strong pro Brexit views as has been seen in your posts throughout this forum, but there is a woman in the fish business above, saying categorically that Brexit has decimated her business.

The BBC then edited out any bits that referred to Brexit being a complete and utter clusterfuck.

With their new Tory boss, why do you think that may be the case?

There are also countless examples of supermarkets in leafy South East areas short of fresh produce.

It is happening, and it is real.

A personal example, is that we as a business have suffered enormous costs in time and admin this year in exporting our products to the EU. There are now huge amounts of red tape, and the delays through customs are astronomical.

Given that a lot of the Grahams voted for Brexit to stop immigration, yet we have seen the highest numbers of dinghy arrivals in 2021, what exactly are the benefits of Brexit now that it's well underway?

The one true benefit is the vaccine program, although Brexit happened when pandemics were, like fresh fruit and veg, a thing of the past so literally no-one voted Brexit to get a good vaccine program. :hehe:

As I have said on numerous occasions Arf... I can see lots of things from both sides. Because I'm not constantly knocking Brexit it doesnt mean I fully support it either, despite your wide of the mark assessment.
I've stated previously what some of my thoughts on brexit are and some of my reasons for those thoughts based on my experience - none of which are based on racism. If anything it would be racism towards Brits.
With regard to the BBC Interview I heard it live when first broadcast so I'm aware of what was said by the lady.

If you'd read ALL my post re my own experience in the shops instead of being selective you will note that I also stated I didnt disbelieve anyone else's experience. I cant comment on the experience of others.
Is your issue with what I wrote because its different to what you want to hear? Sorry Arf...wrong person...I call it as I see it and dont jump on bandwagons to appease others.
And just for reference, I agree that in general the current government is a shower of shit, but again I'm not consumed and dont keep banging on about them. Same with all political parties - as I've also previously stated.

To complete a bit more of the picture for you I'm not against the Welsh Language either, particularly as I have 2 older sons educated in Welsh from Cylch age onwards. If I had a problem with the Welsh Language there were other English Medium Schools they could have gone to. But again I dont comment one way or the other on here but now you know.
Independence - open mind, but wont be brow beaten or led down a blind alley.

Some fair points, well made.

Cheers for the discourse!

I've tried to be open minded about Brexit. I never bought all the project fear stuff nor did I believe in the so called Brexit dividends we'd all have. Things are never as good or as bad as promised in my experience. Truth be told I didn't really know what to expect.

I have to say though it doesn't look like it's going that well does it. I think even the ruddiest faced, union jack clad, old codger would have to accept that at this point it looks very much like they've been sold a pup.

Truth is, it was never about what was best for Britain or the people.

A relatively small cabal of people looking out for their own interests wanted it. They managed to mobilise a significant section of society to support it by telling them what was wrong with their lives, who was to blame and how to fix it.
Add in a few political chancers like Johnson who would sell his children for votes and a semblance of power and here we are.

We also seem to be burning bridges as fast as possible. Even if there was a roadmap back to EU membership we wouldn’t have the same deal or influence we had before, we’d probably have to adopt the euro which would be a step too far for many remainers and chances are we’d get another big fat “Non” from the french

I voted to stay in the EU, but there's no chance I'd vote to rejoin. What Brexshitters didn't realise was that we had a really cushy deal and allowances. It's not possible, in my opinion, to rejoin unless the UK is completely in the shitter. I don't think we will be, quite, but it's looking mighty close. :hehe:
