Bbc just reported on the welsh news that the welsh Labour government have had to spend £225m to keep it afloat.
I'd love to hear the lefties thoughts on this?

Would help of Bristol weren't given massively preferential treatment on Air Passenger Duty. Clearly politically motivated

That’s a relatively modest amount of money in the scale of things. To put it in perspective, that’s about one third of what it cost to build a shopping centre in town, to keep Wales only airport running. Personally I would consider it money well spent.

KLM are also going from 2 to 3 flights a day to Amsterdam. Little steps.

Great news. KLM are a good carrier but their flights are expensive
About £150 return to Amsterdam. These flights are mainly for business mind. Ryanair are gradually increasing their presence at Cardiff with four routes now, with rumours of more to be added.

Cheaper than getting to Heathrow for a long-haul flight

I've always found it much more expensive than that when I've looked. The more routes the better, too much focus on resorts at the moment

Lack of competition on that route out of CWL keeps the prices high, but the passenger demand is clearly there for them to increase their flights
There is also a higher rate of Air Passenger Duty compared to Bristol and other airports that UK Government refuses to devolve
