I'm pretty sure that Smith, Williams and Morrell will be included and maybe Levitt.

Agree. I think we need more midfielders. I think I’d also take Tom Bradshaw who’s in much better form than Tyler Roberts

For me Morrell should go. Yes he’s limited but he’s got experience of the team and can do a Joe Allen type job off the bench. Luke Harris has played 5 minutes off football this season and we’re way passed the days of picking players that aren’t playing for their clubs anymore. Same goes for Ruben - he hasn’t kicked a ball for two months and simply hasn’t done enough to deserve a place or show that he’s fit enough to be relied upon.

Up front I think Harris deserves a place. He’s obviously way behind players like Brennan and Kieffer but he offers more than Matondo who is nowhere near international standard.

Personally I think we’ve got a core of 15 quality players but obviously we lack the strength in depth of bigger nations. If we can keep players like Rambo, Brennan, Neco, Wilson and Ben Davies on the pitch then we’ll give anyone a game. If we have to rely on some of the squad players then we’ll struggle, but that’s ok, we know what we are and ultimately there’s no pressure on us. The way I see it as long as we have a go and give the fans something to cheer then that’s enough. Getting through the group and bringing back memories of 2016 will be fantastic but we really need our quality to stay fit.

Don’t rate Levitt at all. Playing for a team at the bottom of a pub league - no thanks. I’d take league one players over that.

Cooper has been playing regularly for the gyppos and deserves a spot.

I’m over the moon that we’re there, finally part of it. I remember standing behind the goal in Bordeaux just before kick off, turning to my mate and saying, just give us one goal to celebrate and I’ll be happy. How times have changed, but as a fan base our expectations are still modest.

Mind you with our best Xl fit we all know that we’ve got a great chance of getting out of the group which would maintain our 100% record, which I would be more than happy with.

With the Euros in 2016 I felt anything could happen if we got out of the group. I was happy just to get out of the group in 2021.

I'd be happy to get through, and if we were playing Ecuador or Senegal or even Qatar in R2 I'd be very happy.

Good post Dr. Though i disagree about Harris. I would tale Matondo over him. Only just mind. I have seen every city game this term whether at the ground or streaming and Harris has been more poor than good.

Matondo has delivered nothing for Wales despite electric pace. He did play well in one of the Nations League games. Harris is very industrious and does chip in with some decent goals so gets my vote given our dearth of strikers.

Agree. Matondo is very quick but that’s about it. Harris stats this season are better than Matondo’s and in a stronger league.

One thing Harris is very good at is closing down defences late on which could be useful if we’re desperate for a goal or defending a lead.

That’s how I see it.

Neither are really good enough at present for international football but out of the two I’d back Harris to pop up with a goal. For me Matondo lacks the intelligence and awareness needed at the top level.

Harris as a 60-70 minute sub offers a lot more than Matondo. Neither are ever going to start a game.

I think with Harris he’s one of those players that looks like they’ve got the potential to be a decent striker at this level but it never really clicks. His awareness is good, he works hard, gets into decent positions and knows how to strike a ball but he just needs that consistency to make himself a first team regular. He’s not really a kid anymore but he’s still got time to learn and improve. It wouldn’t surprise me if he develops into a really good player and hopefully going to a World Cup will give him a boost that will ultimately benefit Cardiff and Wales.

Yes it was Poland away Jimmy, didn't do bad at all and you are correct about his lightening pace and correct he has not delivered. But IMO neither has Harris. Nothing much to separate them. But Matondo over Harris for me - just :hehe:, his pace could probably draw a few fouls and create a bit of havoc. Harris seems to commit fouls when he can't make the ball stick to his feet or get past a player.

The other thing for me is that we’ve got Matondo type players (Brennan, Dan James etc.) that are a class above him whereas we don’t really have much in the way of traditional strikers.

I sincerely hope so Dr. But he has frustrated me no end last few seasons; he has missed his fair number of chances and it irks me to see him spin a player or nudge them when he can't beat them and subsequently gives away free kicks.

Fair points - just a good old difference of opinion. I know what you mean about Matando causing havoc but often it comes to nothing because of a bad touch or decision and that can be quite deflating.
