Missed this and very sorry to hear about it...the hardest thing you can do for them but also the best thing when the time comes. Hope you're all ok.

Take care. Joe.
Thanks Joe mate. I was going to PM you about Sookie's age decline. But it all happened so quick. I am only just coming to terms with it. I miss her like mad and have been in bits since Sunday.

Understandable.....anyone that's ever had a dog is with you mate.....bless her....the joy they bring does outweigh the sorrow when that dreadful day finally arrives....just doesn't feel like that right now....but a family dog is the rock arouund which all else takes place and trust me she wouldn't have had it any other way...truly mans best friend....take care mate.

Our Jack Russell Sookie is really struggling. She would be 17 this October. Took her to the Vet on Friday, but it does not look good. Diarrhea and sick, but not eating or drinking water, struggling on her feet and breathing not good. And i reckon a few seizure like moments.
Me and the Mrs been doing shifts with her. She has been slowing up last 6 months, drinking loads of water and her body swelling up a bit. but Wednesday onwards she just went down hill. Only this time last year she was retrieving sticks from the water at cosmeston lakes.
I am thinking her organs are giving up. We got some medicine and stuff from Vet - Pro bind in a syringe and Omeprazole. But i think we all knew it will not get better. She is straining to pooh and only watery bits come out. She crashes out for an hour in between bouts of trying to pooh etc. It shatters her out. We are heartbroken. I think the big decision needs to be made real soon, like today. The Mrs is off to work now and doesn't want to do it today. You know this day is going to come but you try to ignore it. It is going to be a b View attachment 184820 View attachment 184821 View attachment 184822 View attachment 184823 View attachment 184824 ad day.
Pics of her in better times.
Sincere thanks for your comments everybody She passed away quietly and gracefully at 1300 today at Valley Vets Taffs well. We are devastated but she was was shattered. The drive there and back home was very emotional.

So sorry for your loss it's the most difficult of times and will take both of you a long time to recover but you will of course.
If i can offer one word from my experience and your probably can't even think of another dog at this time but I tell you in my experience what gets you over the loss is another dog

I don't want to sound weird or disrespectful, but although I lost my parents a good few years ago and I loved them both dearly ,the loss of my dog was as painful as losing either of them and the experience however painful helped when my wife passed

Thanks Bri. I agree about another dog. But my Mrs says no. I wouldn't of course suggest so soon after. I think she will come around when the time is right. She doesn't want to discard her baskets and bowls yet. They are still in place.

sorry to hear that sloop, my jack russell is coming up to 15. great company and mad as a hatter.good innings 17, take care sloop

My ex wife and kids have got a Jack Russell and she is the best dog you could wish to have around humans.

Show her another dog though, and she goes all Ronnie Pickering out of the blue.

Taking her for a walk is an absolute nightmare as she'll attack absolutely anything, no matter the size of dog.

She got so angry the one time, she was like a propeller on the end of the lead, off the ground spinning round. If I'd left her a little longer she might've flown us off somewhere like a drone.

Have to keep her on a short lead and pick her up at the slightest sign of another dog.

Real pity, as I reckon she'd love them if she could drop this psycho dog thing.

:shrug2:

Here she is, catching up on some tv series
