Thanks, that was news to me, but I did notice that the photo was from the eighties and yet Kerslake didn't play very much first team football in the UK during that decade (I always associate him with Swindon around the time they made it into the Premier League in the nineties) - generally speaking players used to go to America to play for a club towards the end of their careers back then.

Judging by his shirt, the rivalry has to be Sunderland/Newcastle, Southampton/Portsmouth or Sheffield United/Sheffield Wednesday, but, for some reason, I don't think it's the last one - still none the wiser? Was he playing for one of the rivals when he had his injury at Ninian Park?

I’m thinking it’s Sunderland it could well be end of season game when they were going for promotion and bought so many fans they were given all of the ground except for the Bob Bank - still can’t get the player though!

Put him in a red and white striped shirt and I would have been saying Kevin Ball. As it is, I feel it's someone I should definitely get, but I can't get the thought that Wikipedia is wrong and Ball must have played for Blackpool out of my mind
