Anyone watched The Staircase on Netflix?

Documentary covering the defence team on a murder case. Highly engrossing, I have not been able to call the verdict or even if the guy did it the whole way through.

Recommended for true crime fans

Watched Gunpowder again this evening. 3 x 1 hour superior re telling of the Gun powder plot. Was on BBC 3 years ago i think. Kit Harrington, Liv Tyler and the excellent Mark Gattis as Robert Cecil. It's dark, it's gory and it's got tremendous turns of phrase. Fawkes is great in it. It's a shame he didn't pull it off as we'd all be Spanish now, driving brand new Mercedes taxis and working from 7am till 8.30 am, then eating and kipping and having a rub before maybe doing another hour about 7pm.

Just watched The Queen's Gambit on Netflix, it's a 7 part mini series (there won't be a second season) and it's very good.

I'm not saying I recommend it to anyone because I have no idea whether it would be anyone's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.

It was different and it doesn't try to pander to anyone or have an agenda or try to patronise the viewer, it just tells a story.

Spotlight on the troubles: A secret history

BBC-i, 7 parter about the trouble in N.Ireland. Interviews galore with all sides and mental footage of a crazy time in British history. Loads of things I didn't know. Very well made, very watchable.

It's got everything that a gripping tv drama would have, politics, violence, double crosses, kidnaps, assassinations, murder squads, SAS units, beatings, international arms smuggling, money laundering, riots, bomb making. You name it and it's in there by those that did it but it's obviously real life. You couldn't write a film so mental.
