Gabalfa Lock. Lock No 47 on the Glamorganshire Canal. The Master Gunner, south of the Gabalfa Avenue/ Cathedral View roundabout, now stands on the site.

Merchants Exchange built in 1886, then rebuilt after fire in 1892. It became the headquarters of Powell Duffryn in the 1930s.
Demolished for the Welsh Industrial & Maritime Museum 1977 - 1998, which in turn was demolished for Mermaid Quay.

I don't think the house on the postcard is the one circled. I think it's this one just north of the railway line and river on the corner of the entrance to the Folk Museum.

Good point, but I think the aspect of the other house in the background (which is still standing) indicates that The Old Mill was back towards the village and on the other side of the road anyway. Mill House was more likely to be on the watercourse.
