Kingsway, c1948 and 2023
Presumably they just covered over the entrance but the toilets are still there under the ground?

I don’t know for certain, but I imagine so. There was also an underground toilet on a smaller scale on Canton bridge.

Whenever I see those toilets they always remind me of the Carry On film, Carry on at your Convenience when Charles Hawtry was a toilet attendant in an underground toilet.

Pedantic Pete here.

Carry on at your convenience was the one about the factory where they made toilets. Charles Hawtry was the designer.

The one you’re thinking of is “Carry on screaming”

Should be more central imo - but out of sight and out of mind. A big family in Cardiff's history and unlike a lot of the super rich they gave something back to the community
