The Hayes building built by Solomon Andrews in 1893.This was directly opposite David Morgan’s.Sadly destroyed by a major fire in 1958 and along with the central cinema, they were sold for redevelopment later to be Hayes House and Oxford arcade

That's shame, nice looking building that.

I wonder if other cities have the same history of destroyed grand old buildings as we do.

yes that’s gone now, it was the Casablanca club, building more flats there now
