Remember when the club were moving from Ninian to the CCS & an open day was held for the fans where you could walk through the stands, tunnel, changing rooms etc & there were activities going on on the pitch. Whitts was there mingling with all the fans on the pitch and spending his time talking to people. A very loyal servant with a wand of a left foot. Missed.
He was an amazing player. Did he lack ambition? He could have played at a higher level, but his ambition seemed to be to simply be happy. He was humble, polite, the sort of child you would be proud to call a son even without the immense talent he had.
If he had arrogance, we wouldn't have had him for long. He would have moved on. An amazing player and one of life's good guys, and I think he will retain a place in the Cardiff City folklore for generations to come. For a couple of years, a free-kick was as good as winning a penalty. There were sweet spots on the pitch where, if the ball was placed, you knew the other side needed a good goalie, because we were about to score.
