His wife has said that it is not him, but that is starting to look like wishful thinking. What is the matter with these blokes

I'm sure I have mentioned a story in my old workplace where they took one bloke's work PC. We (on IT) were then told to go through every PC to look for and remove any dodgy pictures. I refused, as did a mate, but we were told to do it. Me and my mate put a document together basically saying we were told to do this, but didn't do it and signed it. Just in case.

The bloke used to show up for work at 7, disappear around 8-9, then leave just before 3. It used to annoy us at the time, but thinking about it later we wondered if he was hanging around schools. He lived alone (divorced) and so had no real reason to get home early.

What we did learn was that when someone is accused of "making indecent images" like that, it is not so much that they are the ones taking the pictures, but in downloading such images a person is defined as making indecent images.
