POST MATCH FANS REACTIONS - BURTON

FOOTBALL OFF-TOPIC FUN BETS
With 11 men in or around the box there were unlikely to be any gaps opening up which is what we seemed to be hoping for. It was a time for taking chances, banging the ball into the box, chipping over the top, anything other than minutes at a time just aimlessly knocking it around in front of their defence.
There was a spell when we were playing the ball behind their defenders for Salech to run on to but then we abandoned that. We then got into situations where we had our players on top of each other. I know it's hard when the opposition are set up to contain you but we have to have solutions for that. Hopefully yesterday will just go down as a bad day in the office but there were a few worrying flashbacks to the debacle of last season.

Ironically we're probably going to do better against good sides as they are unlikely to sit back to the extent Burton did.

Aye but a little worrying we were outplayed by Bradford and then couldn't handle a bad Burton team

Now we will find out whether BBM is a good coach or a one trick pony.

I think a lot of it is down to players, you can coach people all you like, sometimes you just have to trust your own instincts, games change by the second, and it’s those split second decisions that change games. I don’t think many of our players are capable of seeing those opportunities and are becoming a little bit robot like.

I think if trying to pass it in doesn't get us anywhere then try some long range stuff. It will keep the defenders guessing and might make them move out of position to close us down because they anticipate a shot coming in.
At the moment we are not really testing them with all this square stuff.
It's not the Premier League let's go back to basics.

I read your posts and wonder if you’re even watching the same sport as us, let alone the same match. Your obsession with Rubin is seriously obscuring your view of the match.
Let off some steam, have a little tug. You can get pics of Rubin on Google.
Why for recognising his talent, and expressing the view he could be more influential playing in a slightly different way...:shrug2:

I'd put me on ignore if I where you its obviously affecting you more than me:hehe:

I hate to say it but AA may have a point.
Something is strange re leaving him out and including Ramsey who has barely played a game in ages.
Including Joel ,Koumas ,Sherman, Harris etc.
Is Ramsey being picked out of loyalty or for old time sake. I can't see him

contributing much. Probably get injured in training. It's exactly like picking Bale when he was obviously over the hill and had extensive injury lay offs. You just can't pick it up that easily again and unfortunately Bale proved that and the same will happen to Ramsey.

Bale wasn't over the hill, if you remember it was his performances/goals that got us through the Play Offs and into the World Cup in 2022...and he scored our only goal at that World Cup then retired.

Even when he was over the hill he was worth his spot. Should have been used more sparingly in Qatar but we don't get there without him and he scored his pen despite the pressure

He might be right but I don't think that means he knows a god damned thing. He's got form for not being very bright and saying controversial stuff or making things up merely for attention and forum hits. At best I think it's speculation or rumour but that does t stop him passing it off as gospel

Yes I totally agree but I personally think it's odd. He has given reasons for not picking Rubin but picked others against the same guidelines.

He didn't play much before the world cup and didn't do much in the finals.
I accept he played well in the games to get us there but struggled to get fit for the finals and it showed.

Every Welsh player was absolutely shite and looked over the hill finals, we had Page as manager

I don't think it was a case of Bale being over the hill ,like Ramsey they hardly kicked a ball in anger leading up to Qatar and were picked on sentiment as both were coming to their playing careers .Which were Ramsey's inclusion ahead of Colwill is baffling and how Sheehan is anywhere near the squad is ridiculous he's shite.

Neco played well but they all struggled. Page was weak and the whole approach seemed complacent. It's fine for the fans to just enjoy being there but the players should have grabbed the opportunity a lot more. It was a trickier group than many appreciated in ridiculous conditions but we went out with a whimper
