Perhaps you've forgotten about the worldwide rioting, politicians falling over themselves to snap a pic of themselves kneeling for social media likes and endless headlines following the killing of career criminal George Floyd. If you need a British example, there were widespread reforms to the British criminal justice system after the Stephen Lawrence murder, an incident we still get headlines about to this day despite it happening over 3 decades ago.
4th story on bbc website.
Somali ref not allowed in America
Couldn't wait to jump on it could they.

White guy almost had his head cut off.
No need to know what happened prior. Wouldn't have deserved that
Quite. That's not a crime of passion but of outright insanity or savagery. No context makes a beheading appopriate

That’s fine, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
I think I’ve mentioned before that the reaction to something that happened 4,000 miles away was ridiculous. George Floyd was in the wrong, the police officers were in the wrong, and it could be argued that the subsequent changes to policing in America, were justified and proportionate. The reaction here, wasn’t. Although it could be argued that young black males were more likely to be subject to random stop/search here.

The Stephen Lawrence case happened 33 years ago. The met were accused of incompetence and racism. Bearing in mind the murderers were arrested, not charged and one of them subsequently admitted his crime, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that the police had a case to answer.

So two examples, one that happened in America with a ridiculous over-reaction, and one from 33 years ago that imho was justified.

You misunderstand what we're talking about here. The topic isn't about what was justified, we're talking about what gets focussed on by the media and politicians.

What he’s trying to say is white men behead too.

Some British guy in Northern Ireland, Belfast to be precise, trying to behead someone, as you do...

I suppose the police didn't arrest the man who been attacked so perhaps lessons have been learned.

Keir Starmer called the attack horrific and sickening. “I have absolutely no tolerance for abhorrent scenes of violence like this on our streets. My thoughts are first and foremost with the victim, and I thank the first responders, including members of the public who intervened.”

“Naomi Long, the Stormont justice minister, echoed the appeal, saying the images were “deeply disturbing and traumatising to view”.

John Finucane, the Sinn Féin MP for north Belfast, visited the scene on Tuesday morning and called the attack “appalling”.

Gavin Robinson, the Democratic Unionist party leader, asked police to clarify the circumstances of the incident to combat misinformation. “This was medieval,” he told the BBC. “This was a systematic mutilation of a human being on the streets of Belfast.”

Meanwhile, focussing on the important issue:

In a social media post, Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader, said authorities must immediately disclose the suspect’s identity and immigration status.”

I'd say BBC radio 4 coverage this evening is around 20% about the incident and 80% about the possibility of trouble this evening.

It seems like more and more people are questioning the difference in how these incidents are reported depending on race, thankfully.

The nation has been conditioned into thinking a certain way for at least the last 20 years by this exact sort of thing, it's good to see it coming out in the wash.
