Sadly, VPNs won't stop forums like this from shutting its doors when the government orders us to ID visitors

Well said mate. It's not about porn, it's not about left or right, Labour or Conservative, it's about the gradual nanny state overreach and erosion of our freedom.
I'm happy to see the petition is nearing 300,000 signatures in just a couple of days and I hope that does something because demanding ID from people to see websites is an absolute piss take.

Can't travel on supporters buses to away games if under 18 without a responsible adult and also parental consent. But old enough to vote; thats mental! The Ciry are introducing an arms length safeguarding rule on parents for under 14s this season. I found out it means the under 14 should not be further than an arms length from the parent. At first, I thought it read like an adult had to be more than an arms length from a under 14. There are some strange rules at football grounds too and they are not standardise. Some will not allow entry to under 14s unaccompanied, some clubs make it under 16. Going back to the travel law. This is under the Traffic Commissioners guidelines, which as a travel group rep with City I have read and watch out for some new slippery rules that get added before each season. Child neglect charges could be enforced if breached. You can vote at 16 soon and have a say in running the country but you cunt look at a bit of smut....![]()
For now.Shame the petition did nothing
I don't think this is about the politicians. It was introduced on the Tories watch, Labour kept it. This is deeper level stuff, same as the Snoopers Charter was. The shady men behind the men, the folks who run GCHQ, the ones we don't get to see.For now.
Also it’s not just about a petition. If enough individuals/companies make enough noise about it then it doesn’t go away. As we’ve seen with other stuff (winter fuel allowance, disability benefits etc) these faceless fair weather politicians will quickly change course if they realise pressure is building on them.
Also I’m not sure how stuff like this works but if we take this website as an example, what would happen if people like your good self just said fuck off and didn’t implement their age verification bullshit? Would they have the power to get websites shut down? If so I think that would probably focus people’s minds on the implications more than any petition.
Ironically the ones whose internet use we should be monitoring.,I don't think this is about the politicians. It was introduced on the Tories watch, Labour kept it. This is deeper level stuff, same as the Snoopers Charter was. The shady men behind the men, the folks who run GCHQ, the ones we don't get to see.
