I used to work in Cardiff, and travelled from the valleys. Anyway, every time it snowed, all the locals would be jumping into their 4x4s and making the dangerous 300 yard trip home. There'd be, like, a bit of snow on a pavement.
One day, I woke up and got to my car. The snow was up to my knees by the car door. It was a VW Golf, brilliant in the snow. "I'll show those Cardiff lot" I said as I reversed up the road and set on my way. There was a lorry stuck on a bypass. "I'll show him too" I said, as I went past him with ease. I got to this mountain road and had slowed right down. Wasn't feeling too cocky because this road rose and dipped and twisted and turned. I was doing about 20mph.
Suddenly, I lost control, the car went into a spin and hit a banking. Suddenly, it toppled over landing on my side, like slow motion. Disorientated I couldn't even find the button to open the window to get out. It was so bad that when I called the police they said they wouldn't be out for an hour because it is bad and just asked me if I had moved my car to keep traffic flowing.
Nearly wrote off my car. Called my boss, who was a tosser at the best of times, and he said "will you be in tomorrow, some of us had to walk in". Poor blighter. He had to walk a quarter of a mile from the office in a city where the snowfall was 2cm. I took a photo, and texted it to him and said "Don't look like it do it?" I was without a car for 3 months, and he still moaned cos I was late getting in most days because public transport is crap up here.
