Linked with Rhodes again. If there is a very good reason not to extend Micks contract if hes looking to sign strikers over 30 years old. I thought we were moving away from that and going with young and hungry or has the board change their minds again?
don't believe what you read even MM doesn't know if he'll be here next season

So no real legs to the story then, just rumour.

You just need to think bout the player... Rhodes is a poacher. Lack of service? He's utterly anonymous. He's as far apart from a McCarthy striker as it's possible to get.

Like Freddie Sears and Mcgoldrick?

Both move around the pitch... put effort in. Rhodes on the other hand...

Rhodes when he was prolific didn't need to run about like a headless chicken. He was smart and instinctive striker and knew where to be in the box nothing wrong with that.

To do that, you need service into the box.

Spot the glaring issue...

Like Norwich were he could only get a handful of goals all season. Norwich provide plenty of service. Hes past it.

Indeed, which is why I highly doubt there's interest from the transfer committee - too old, too past it, no resale value.

The fact rumour maker uppers seem to believe McCarthy is behind transfer exposes the rumours.

Cardiff City and Watford are leading the chase to sign Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Adam Reach, on a free transfer this summer, Football League World understand.

Reach is fast approaching the end of his contract at Hillsborough, with the former Middlesbrough man set to become a free agent in the summer of 2021.
A source has told Football League World that Cardiff and Watford are monitoring the situation surrounding Reach at this moment in time, with a view to pressing ahead and signing him up from 2021/22.

Reach, 28, signed for Wednesday back in 2016, leaving Middlesbrough and embarking on a new challenge in South Yorkshire.

Inside the versatile midfielder’s first season with Wednesday, they reached the play-offs under Carlos Carvalhal. However, just like they did the year previous, the Owls failed to win promotion.

Since then, Reach’s influence has grown at Wednesday. He scored four goals and registered 11 assists in 2017/18, before striking eight times the following season, which included trademark long-range goals against West Brom and Leeds United.

In total, Reach has made 219 appearances for Wednesday across his time at Hillsborough, returning 22 goals and showing immense versatility to play in midfield, out wide or at full-back.

This year, he’s featured under Garry Monk, Tony Pulis, Neil Thompson and Darren Moore, making 37 appearances and scoring four goals for the Owls.

They are struggling in the Championship’s bottom-three still and facing relegation.

That’s a polar opposite to Reach’s potential suitors, with Watford tussling with Brentford and Swansea City for second place in the Championship and Cardiff on an 11-game unbeaten run that’s thrust them into play-off contention.

It would be good for the lads in the dressing room to have a Reach around.

Cardiff City are one of a number of teams that are tracking Rangers winger Jordan Jones, according to TEAMtalk.

Jones joined League One side Sunderland on loan from Rangers for the rest of the season, and he’s already made a big impact for the Black Cats.

The Northern Ireland international has assisted three times and scored twice in the league so far – including a delightful chip against Portsmouth.

Barnsley, Stoke and Middlesbrough – the latter who Jones played for as a youngster – are all said to be interested in signing the 26-year-old as well, but it is Cardiff who are being focused on here.

Would Jones be a good summer signing for the Bluebirds, and do they even need him? The FLW writers have had their say…

George Harbey

I think he’d be a great signing.

Jones has enjoyed a good spell with Sunderland so far, having five goal involvements in nine appearances for the Black Cats.

We know that Mick McCarthy likes his wide players to be fast, direct and have good end product, and Jones certainly fits the bill considering how well he’s performed since joining Sunderland.

If they stay down, then his arrival would be a positive addition and add to the quality wide options they already have at the club.
