Yes they did, some clubs in league 1 & 2 have got them. Problem is when you have a board just made up of businessmen with no football nous are vulnerable to getting ripped off by agents. Stuart Webber has recently just left Norwich, I'd have him here tomorrow! he would make a massive difference here. He was responsible with David Wagner at Huddersfield and Daniel Farke at Norwich.

So we are heavily reliant on Buluts scouting and network for the players, the thing is if Bulut goes (cos hes not signed a contract yet) the next manager might not want Buluts players cos they don't suit his philosophy and we are back to square one again, this just wastes money. That's always going to be a problem here until Tan leaves.

The Professional Football Scout Association has the average EFL Sporting Director salary at between £70,000 and £200,000 a year. Surely Tan can afford that?

I was labouring under the misapprehension it was a 4.5 year contract with very generous wages. Do remember that being debunked now you mention it but it was commonly believed. Someone was clearly shit stirring

You have good resson to believe it was a 4.5 year contract as I remember that being quoted at the time. See this article

Wiki contradicts it self by saying it was a 4.5 year but left the club in June 2022 at the expiry of his contract 3 years or so after he joined

One could argue that we have to be able to afford a DoF. Multi millionaire businessman Mehmet Dalman has publicly stated that, of all the Boards he sits on, Cardiff City is the only one that has no expertise in the business they are in. Was it a good idea to let managers, who have been around the footballing block significantly more times than the likes of Tan, Choo and Dalman, have the degree of control over transfers, contracts etc. that some appear to have had ? Who is creating an over arching Football strategy for the club ? I could go on.

Anyway, it's all academic as Tan has said no - we're not having one so that's that
