Football What would Cardiff City's team look like in League 1?

Maybe it's a bit premature but the defeat against stoke city has knocked the confidence right out of me. Given the likelihood of relegation to league 1, what players would you try to keep or think will stay and what players would get rid off or may ask to leave?

I think our initial squad if we get relegated may look something like this:

• GK- No change in this department
• Ethan Horvath
• Jak Alnwick
• Mathew Turner

Defense- desperately needs some League 1 battle veterans

• Dylan Lawlor
• Will Fish
• Ryotaro Tsunoda- I think in league 1, it may actually suit him and I expect Daland to go
• Joel Bagan
• Andy Rinomohta- I would renew his contract

Midfield- desperately needs some League 1 battle veterans

• Rubin Colwill- I actually dont think we will get the offer we want for him, so he will stay another year
• Ryan Wintle- I think with a number of experienced midfielders leaving and his own past experience in League he would come back into the fold and become either captain/vice captain
• Eli King
• Joel Colwill

Wingers- Needs another 1/2 wingers

• Callum O’dowda- Captain/ Vice Captain- I think he's here for the long haul
• Ollie Tanner
• Cian Ashford

Attackers-

• Yousef Salech
• Roko Simic
• Issak Davies
• Kion Etete

What do you guys think looking at this? are there any players who I haven't included in the list that you think will stay? Or are there any players that I have included that you think will go? And is this a good enough nucleus for League 1 if you can get some league 1 veterans around them in the free agent market?

We don't know which players have a relegation release clause in their contracts but we know some do. If they have one I'd be astonished if they didn't take advantage of it given the uncertain prospect of us doing well in League 1.

I was assuming it was mostly the players we re-signed this season when relegation looked a possibility but who knows?

These clauses alternatively specify that wages will be cut in the event of relegation and not necessarily that a player will be automatically released.

Additionally, only a portion of extra football income can be used for player-related expenditure.
