You shouldn't be looking at other people's puzzles before attempting it yourself. We already have at least one on here that makes a habit of that.

If people want to go early and blow their load then thats up to them.
How do you police it?
By simply telling people not to look?

Same as when posters announce they use the same opening word, then that gives people the chance to make note of that. Now I dont use that to my advantage because basically I can't be arsed.

I usually go about 4 to 6am so am consistent with that and usually find 1 to 3 posters have gone.

Now even though ive told everyone this is the only advantage I get, I never once won this event, and the last 2 months ive finished in the bottom. So think of that when you moan at me for getting a random 2 cos its worked for once

You can't police or enforce it, but we should be able to rely on a poster's integrity to take part in the monthly comp maintaining a level playing field.

it’s easy enough to cheat if you’re that way inclined. I’ve admitted to looking in here when I first started and adjusting my guesses based on what others have posted. Is that cheating? Technically no, but it’s not really playing fair either which is why I now post mine right after midnight most days.

I think most people play before looking in here. The exception being Melv and Nuggles - incidentally the two people who have been confirmed to cheat (although to give Nuge his dues he’ll admit when he’s done it.

Do I think he’s cheated today? If he says it’s legit then I’ll take his word for it. However he’s certainly gained a huge advantage from looking in here first.

Ultimately it’ll affect things going forward. Whereas some posters will be presumed honest there’ll be others who’ll be judged on past deeds and therefore treated with less leeway.
