Ah, I was just going to post this. Something I read last night said that the pub was on the corner of Castle Street and Kingsway. The building in @Travis Bickle 's photo would seem to be the same one as here.

The buildings being demolished that used to be in front of the castle

It's crazy, it looks like those buildings go right back to the castle wall with barely an alleyway between them and the castle. How strange that they were allowed to build there in the first place?

I think it might be the one that I have posted.

I cannot wrap my head around this pic. It's like there's two rows of buildings in front of the castle and the building nearest the camera , if it was still there today, would be right in the middle of the road of Castle Street.

Is that Womanby Street looking towards the Castle?

Am I alone in thinking Cardiff used to look better years ago looking at some of these photos. Not everywhere of course but the City Center in particular

Where are the buildings? They were there until 1923

Maybe those ones were demolished earlier than the ones on the corner with Kingsway?

And there was a car in the photo that couldn’t have been there in 1900

Wow, according to the map, those buildings really did poke out into the middle of the road on Castle Street outside the South Gate.

Notice that Kingsway was then North Street probably changed when they put up the archway after a coronation
