Newport must be very relieved, came so close to dropping out the league

From the outside looking in, and talking to a mate who supports them, they are extremely fortunate to have stayed in the league. If they had gone down I believe they would have lost their academy status and a lot of young players would have been gone and they could easily have gone down the shitter again. Problem for them is that, unless the cock-nosed jack pulls his finger out, they are just going to be in the same position next season. It’s no real surprise though really is it, for their entire league existence they have yo-yo’d between the bottom two divisions.

The thing is you don't have to be that good to stay up in L2. A lot better than only one team relegated admittedly but sone teams clearly decide to coast. Can't see any reason why the port shouldn't be half decent in L2
