My company is offering up a discounted plan so i'm thinking of joining up

Anyone had a plan and subsequently had to use it? How does the service compare to the NHS in terms of waiting times and all that?

I used to have it with my last job, taxed as a benefit in kind of course.

I had to have a minor operation, which I had done in Pontprennau. I was in the Heath on Monday where I got the dignosis, rang my insurance company the next day, saw a consultant on the Wednesday, operation on the Friday.
Was like being in a hotel. Freed up an NHS bed I suppose, but couldn't help feeling that all hospitals should be like this.
Overall I probably had my money's worth.
When I changed jobs, I did look at getting my own insurance, but as I recall it was pretty expensive. If you can afford it, I'd get it.

If you can afford it for yourself and your family Kiffa i would use it. I am attached to my wifes policy that she has with her works and wheras i used it to have a cataract removed within a month of my first appointment my wife had a cancerous lump removed from her body under Bupa. she was in and out and operated on 8 weeks before her first consultation at Velindre was due so whilst it is paying essentially to Queue jump family comes first and was a godsend as far as my wife was concerned.

Used mine twice (company provided) once in Iran where I had my appendix taken out, mine burst when I was in the hospital, then years later at Bupa in Pentwyn, had to have a prolapsed sphincter repaired following dysentery in Cairo.

The benefits are, that I'm still alive.

Do the NHS staff treat you like a scab if they know you've been paying for private?

Not at all. Don't know if they've even been aware of the route taken. Just get booked in by the consultant's secretary and treated the same as any other patient.

If it goes tits you end up in the Heath anyway. The nurses treat you the same as anyone but they do titter at the ones who seem to think they’re still in Pentwyn hospital, still demanding special treatment.

lucky enough I have the same with my current job and although touch wood I have never had to use it plenty of people have on site have and the feedback is excellent, I think most blue chip companies are beginning to use the benefit scheme now which also comes with other benefits

lucky enough I have the same with my current job and although touch wood I have never had to use it plenty of people have on site have and the feedback is excellent, I think most blue chip companies are beginning to use the benefit scheme now which also comes with other benefits

Yeh there's a whole hep of other benefits you have available should you keep active, which I do. So i think i can offset a fair bito f the cost with that as well

You have a hose attached to the bidet. It's similar to colonic irrigation.Warm water squirted up your arse takes your mind off the soreness from the operation.

All I will say is that the bed baths are much better. They get the Filipino nurses to do it. On the NHS it is Olga from Romania.
