My dad was waiting for the football scores outside Dixon's and was chuffed when City won. In an effort to seek his admiration, I also pretended to be chuffed.
Then, he called me from work. Wanna go down to watch the City son. Hadn't been since 1982 when, as a 6 year old, he'd sod off for a bovril, leaving me in the Canton Stand where some stranger would "keep an eye on me".
City 3 - 2 Exeter was the first game I remember.
City 0 - 0 Ebbw Vale was the second.
Until that first game, I hated football. I often think I was wiser then.
