Had an interesting one earlier.
Mrs W used my car to take Jnr W to his refereeing this morning. She took the dog out at same time.
Jnr has two games to ref, one just down the road from the other. I get a call from Mrs W, she's lost the car key while walking the dog. We've never got round to getting her the Tesla app on her phone so she uses the key card, which is just like a credit card, to open & start the car.
Poor Jnr has had to walk through Hertford in his ref's kit, in his boots, to get to his second game. Mrs W meanwhile is going to retrace her steps to see if she can find the card. Also on her person are the keys to her car, meaning I can't just get in that and come to her.
Eventually... doing the dog walk a second time did not turn up the key card. I had in the meantime jumped on ChatGPT to see whether I could do anything remotely, the capabiliities of the Tesla app being a bit of a moving target, as new stuff gets added from time to time when the car does a software update.
Turns out I was able to unlock the car from the app, sat at home, and also start the car so Mrs W could drive it to pick up Jnr and then come home.
That was far preferable to having to get in an Uber to the rescue. Added bonus is that new key cards are £30 a pair from the Tesla shop and can be programmed DIY in the car. Having lost car keys before I know normal ones can easily run to a couple of hundred.
I'm sure the members of the Micra Owner's Club will say this is all a bit gay, but it was dead handy.
