Football BALE TALKS ABOUT CARDIFF CITY TAKEOVER BID

HOME FUN BETS LOTTERY
The article seems to be based on what the trust said in this release:

There has been considerable discussion on social media recently about a bid to acquire Cardiff City FC from current owner Vincent Tan. The situation seems to be somewhat confusing but the actual position appears to be as follows:

Claims that an actual bid by a US based consortium has been made are a bit misleading. As a result of a conversation the Trust has had with the club at board level it seems that no formal bid has been made for the club to consider. Rather, a notice of intention to make such an offer was delivered direct to owner Vincent Tan who seems to have had little interest in it and, in the absence of an actual bid, the matter was not progressed further. The board have confirmed that no bid has been received and that one is not anticipated.

In a very recent Sky Sports interview Gareth Bale stated that he would be interested in being involved with a consortium looking to acquire the club but didn’t claim that an actual bid had been made. He said that something might happen in the future but put no timescale on it.

The consortium seem to have to date just started what I would call a “fishing trip”. i.e put some bait on a line to various football clubs (Plymouth Argyle have been mentioned to date but there may have been others) to see if any of them take a “bite” by showing an intent to explore the matter further.

I have taken soundings from some of my former business colleagues in the accountancy world (some of them having football advisory experience) and their view, and one that might be shared by the owner, is that it would be inadvisable to consider a sale of the club at the moment for a number of reasons, including the following

As a consequence of last season’s relegation the club’s income from TV/media rights and the solidarity payments through the EFL agreement with the Premier League has dropped by a total of approximately £10m. This obviously impacts on the selling value of the club.
The formal hearing in the ongoing legal claim against FC Nantes is due to be held in just a few months time in September with a ruling laid down by the end of this calendar year. If the claim is successful (and there is great optimism that it will) then the club could benefit by many millions of pounds. This would significantly increase the value of the club.
In summary, the position remains uncertain. The Trust will continue to provide updates and commentaries if and when the situation changes

It's typical WoL fluff, pieced together from info already out there. I wonder if there's a single journalist left on their staff with an ear at the club.
I was told a while back they only have one full-time journalist on the staff, they use a few freelancers, pay for other stories and the rest is cheap staff trawling through social media, forums, health advice etc to make clickbait - much of which is shared by other media in the Trinity Group.

Fuck off Keith

It is worth remembering until very recently the Trust were winding up the board with their diplomacy-free criticisms of the communication of the manager search.

So it might be reasonable to assume that "acolyte" Ken and his colleagues might not be busting a gut to be completely candid with Keith & co.

Time will tell I suppose but it does underline the importance of all fans' groups trying to foster a decent relationship with the club where possible.

I suppose that's just the result of the decline of print media in the digital age.

The press are increasingly having to depend on advertising to pay their costs in an age where more and more people are becoming either desensitised to online ads, or blocking them entirely.

The public themselves are the press now, and social media our news outlets.

I hate the way that articles are clearly deliberately padded out no so you have to actively scroll down where once they loaded the most important info at the top. Making you artificially stay on for longer to help their metrics and advertising

On news websites, showing more ads and keeping you in the page longer is definitely why they keep the info out of the opening paragraphs, even though it's at odds with modern appetites of wanting the pertinent info easily accessible.

We've been conditioned by social media and 24 hour scrolling news to just want the meat of the story up front and we've become impatient for any "padding".

TV news does a similar thing, they'll have a story that two presenters will introduce you to, then they'll throw to someone else "with more details on the story" then sometimes that person will throw to yet another person "at the scene" to give you the info and it's quite frustrating these days, especially when there's not a lot to the story.

A social media post won't always have the context but it does generally show you exactly what you wanted to see.

Ooooof. That will hit Teeds hard
Why? A throwaway comment by the consortium's mouthpiece. It really does seem that Bale is having trouble remembering his lines

They are probably approaching other clubs with different lower profile front men or none at all.

They can't win. Get too cosy with the club and they'll wind fans up. Get too brusque and lose good will from the club. I think they generally get the balance right but there will be missteps as they are unpaid amateurs and everyone has their own thoughts, opinions and ways of expressing them and people only want them to speak up at difficult, awkward times
