Not many players could replace Wintle with how he played last season, not just a POTY performance but a whole rounder performance, he covered at the back when needed, he attacked, he ran the length and width of the pitch.

Think Savage is the kind of player though that would slot into our squad and benefit from a coach like BBM. Obviously the lad has talent having come through Man Utd’s academy so BBM knows all about him and has seen him play regularly around Manchester.

Tough one to call but certainly adds more weight to the discussion now there’s a midfield slot available
