Isaac Vassell: Cardiff City close in on Birmingham City striker
Cardiff City are closing in on the signing of Birmingham City forward Isaac Vassell.
Luton Town and Swansea City had both been interested in the 25-year-old.
Vassell was withdrawn from the Birmingham squad to face Portsmouth in the EFL Cup on Tuesday with manager Pep Clotet admitting a move was close.
Cardiff are keen to add to their attacking options before Thursday's transfer deadline.
Luton manager Graeme Jones has admitted he was keen on the former Hatters player, but suggested the Bluebirds were leading the race.
"You never know in football, but I think Cardiff have financially gone out on a limb for him, so that's just how it is," said Jones.
"He's obviously someone we liked as a player because we know him really well at the club. He's got that pace and that penetration that we're looking for.
"But there's other players out there, we just need to see if we can get down that list."
Swansea had been keen but are thought to have cooled interest following loan signings of Aldo Kalulu from FC Basel and Sam Surridge from Bournemouth.
