Right then, World Cup starts tomorrow so let’s figure out this betting stuff.

I think we’ve agreed that we’ll keep the comp open for the duration of the World Cup and have a monthly mega competition.

Personally I like the idea from @Captain Fishtits about giving everyone 100k every Monday. That way there’s still opportunities for people to get back up the leaderboard if they lose everything.

I’m thinking we could double the lottery prizes to keep things interesting? Last thing we want is somebody miles out in front after two weeks and everyone else giving up because they think there’s no point trying to catch them.

Banner for the winner sounds good too.

Any other suggestions?

Keeping the weekly banners will be good too. That way I can keep tabs on the weekly highest roller and biggest win with updates on the leaderboard placings instead of trying to work through a months worth of bets.

Just had a look at the bets that are already up. There’s only a few bets placed and nobody’s got loads of credits so I think we can just leave them as is because nobody’s going to be putting up big bets before the reset.

it will be awkward as there will be bets to put up everyday in the world cup plus other bets. so can we still pay out daily bets, and there will be no reset until after the world cup? i've been puting out horse racing bets up and the poops has put up grand prix bets up. i'm a little confused and a bit thick.

The way I see it is quite simple. The bets just go up as normal (horses, formula one, darts, football etc.) The bets get paid out as normal.

The only difference is that we won’t reset every Monday like we do now. We’ll just keep the credits for the duration of the World Cup. Then at the end of the World Cup we’ll just see who’s top like we’d normally do on a Sunday night.

Yeah the only issue I can see is that anyone not betting will end up with huge amounts of credits after a few weeks and potentially winning it despite not placing a bet.

Maybe we could just have a rule saying that anyone that hasn’t bet in the previous week loses their credits? Not sure how that could be implemented though?

Maybe a better way would be to just stick to the 10k starting amount every Monday and rely on @Popeye to put up betting bonus posts now and again? That way the only people bothering to claim the credits would be the regulars who take part in the betting while the rest will only end up with a modest amount.

I think the winner will probably end up with a big total but all it takes is a couple of shock results late on, we all get cleaned out and then you’ve got loads of non betting bastards stealing our glory.

Maybe we can just stick to the 100k every week thing and then have a rule saying that only people who’ve placed bets can win? That way if random people somehow end up top simply due to their 400/500k in awarded credits they get deleted.

I’m sure it’ll be ok even if everyone gets 100k every Monday. Unless everyone loses their stash there’s probably going to be loads of people with massive totals after a few weeks.
