Imagine if Cymru had been independent from the start?

We'd be as wealthy as the Saudis from coal and water alone.

We would all be living like lords, owning all the biggest sporting teams in the world, launching new golf unions, hosting the biggest boxing fights and buying up half of Mayfair and Belgravia, along with critical English infrastructure such as Heathrow.

But no. That cash has long gone, stolen from us sadly.

And we get pennies back. Yet a a fair few on here seem happy with that

:shrug2:

But no matter. The criminal past doesn't have to dictate the future potential

Annibyniaeth i Gymru

How did England even get rich?

I know they pilfered a load of stuff from India, whilst upsetting the locals. Then there was the ivory trade, the slave trade, the gold mined in some colonies, the diamonds mined in others. Which of those countries is in a worse position following independence than it was before. Yes, there will be some examples like Zimbabwe which was named after Cecil Rhodes. Reportedly, his last words were "They don't change the names of countries, do they?". :hehe:

Yes, we have textiles, but that industry was based on coal mined here more than anywhere else.

The English, under the banner of the "British Empire", pillaged all of the colonies, and they pillaged Cymru. Worse, their actions post Aberfan. The queen could not bring herself to face the public, although that was her job.

Imagine India if it was still under the British flag. Or the US. Bloody hell, it would be the UK vs Russia and we'd probably get invaded whilst the PM was slipping one to his West Indies Chamber Maid.

All England has now is an over inflated property market, insurance and banking. We can do all that, AND supply the bastards with electricity and water. We'd probably still have functioning mines, with coal rising to the surface on a bi-annual basis to save us digging any deeper. And it would be carbon free because of the beautiful green hills under which it grows.

In all seriousness though, how can a country that has given so much, through coal, blood, sweat, tears, to power Victoria's empire be left in such abject poverty 150 years later? Do we seriously think the Saudis and Qataris will be skint within a few years of the oil fields drying up. No chance. The English took advantage of our naivety - because we are rarely suspicious of anyone. "Oh, you want us to mine the coal, and give the coal fields to English barons? No worries, because I'm sure you'll see us alright. "

While a lot of the above is tongue in cheek, it has more than a grain of truth.

"
Long ago, life was clean
Sex was bad, called obscene
And the rich were so mean
Stately homes for the Lords
Croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria
Victoria
Victoria, 'toria
I was born, lucky me
In a land that I love
Though I'm poor, I am free
When I grow, I shall fight
For this land, I shall die
Let her sun never set"

Ps what happens to people such as Fuckland and Ian Hislop (and @Worse and @Nugent) in their lives that turns them into such haters of the country that either birthed them or brought them up?

They must have family and connections still here. It's fucking weird if you ask me.

Does this phenomenon happen anywhere else in the world I wonder?

All lilly livered, spineless wankers, except at least Fuckland and Hislop have actually moved there.

And stayed there

:warnock:

I've known and worked with people who believe there is a structure we must all follow. Above us are the people we should tug our forelocks for, and below us are the people we should shit on. These folks have no courage, and can only envisage a world where the King is the tops, and the homeless is the bottoms. The King is cleverer than all of us. The bloke selling the Big Issue must be as thick as pig shit.

It's called the class system. The English swear by it. It keeps away revolts, it gives people false hope of climbing up the social ladder (preferably by standing on the heads of the people that you once called "mate"). It has seeped into Welsh culture, probably sown into our fore-fathers minds along with seeds of fear. It keeps away the discontent. It made sure that they worked hard, for little pay, living in slums owned by their employer, and that their employer owned it all. It's the greed and the desire to hold onto everything and never share a penny that ensures that the class system, like the caste system in India, is adhered to.

Another Kinks song

"
Yes Sir, no Sir
Where do I go Sir
What do I do Sir
What do I say
Yes Sir, no Sir
Where do I go Sir
What do I do Sir
How do I behave
Yes Sir, no Sir
Permission to speak Sir
Permission to breathe Sir
What do I say, how do I behave, what do I say
So you think that you've got an ambition
Stop your dreaming and your idle wishing
You're outside and there ain't no admission
To our play
Pack up your ambition in your old kit bag
Soon you be happy with a packet of fags
Chest out stomach in
Do what I say, do what I say
Yes right away"

Agree with all of that.

England (ergo the UK) is a busted flush. A lot of that is down to what I can only think is foreign sabotage, executed by the Conservative Party since 2010.

That's the only way you can make any sense of the carnage they've achieved in a mere 14 short years.

I think the ONLY hope for Cymru is Independence

Fucking hell.

I can't believe there are still people who believe these myths which have been debunked on this site alone so many times I've lost count.

:nope:

I'll be adding Llanblue to the thankfully short list of spineless tragic Anglophiles

Ok. I'm listening. Only in the hope that it might change your views on Welsh Independence.

Do you think The English Labour Party In Wales or The English Conservative Party in Wales will be anywhere near the decision making in an Independent Wales?

There it is.

The truth is out there folks.

I'm amazed the establishment let it ever get out even if it was through myriad songs and the lyrics contained within.

Perhaps it was just so 'street' that they didn't notice its meanings.

How do you think Ireland would look now if it was still under a British flag? I reckon it would look shit. Northern Ireland's economy would improve if they reunited with Ireland.

It would be good to have a debate as a country, rather than just passing it off as impossible.

I'm also absolutely behind Irish unification.

What the fuck the 'British' were doing there in NI in Armoured vehicles for decades reminds me of the illegal Israeli events in Gaza today. Even as a kid it didn't make sense to me, and now it looks even worse.

Ireland flying, on the up, huge inward investment and a confident happy independent nation.

Meanwhile Wales is erm....

Oh and lastly, all this discussion ALWAYS brings me back to this truth:

If the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish are such a drain on German Royal England's precious 'resources', then why the fuck won't they let us leave?

:shrug2:

He's straight to the pointy though. :sherlock:

Aha

That makes sense in that he's a similar level of low anglophile intellect

I'll keep an eye on that, cheers

Croesy was similar too mind. And was it Gosslow?

No but they’ll still be the same useless bellend type of people.

They let the Scottish have a vote and they didn’t want to leave.
If they done it in Wales the same thing would happen.
