Ahh yeah, I remember you saying about it on here recently.
I had a phone call from the BBC at about 12pm to say they'd like to do a piece and asked where I lived.
I was over the moon and asked what day they were thinking of, but they were a bit vague. I just said anytime would be good really.
I then had another call about 5 minutes later from a Producer saying Nick Pallit was outside the house setting up and could I come out to do the interview ffs!
I stumbled out and virtually started talking with absolutely no prep.
Hence my burbled nonsense on tv

I always assumed his original username arfur Europe was referencing the chant city fans used to sing to the opposition fans entitled who put the ball in the english net arfur (half of) Europe. Obviously the colonel then lured him into the platinum lounge and transformed him into the welsh freedom fighter his username denotes now

I had the drunken idea one Saturday night watching MOTD and they showed a stadium with a statue and I thought 'Why the fuck haven't we got one of those?!'
So I started the petition which had just become a thing online, so that was the easy bit.
This then got picked up by the fans and the media, plus the timing of the imminent new stadium, our Wembley visits, the Supporters Trust just starting out etc all helped get it off the ground.
It did take years and lots of meetings, events and fund raisers but I am proud of it and seeing fans arranging to meet there and getting photos with it etc.
I also know that every team coach drives past it so quite a few famous players will have seen Ole Freddy Boy up there with his Cup
Finally, it really hit home how important it can be as a focal point with the poignant Sala tribute which just happened without any organising.
That was exactly where my name came from Steve. That was my favourite City chant when I first started going down there.

Her wide-eyed admiration soon turned to bewilderment after Dai Hunt latched onto us and started loudly giving us his Sala conspiracy theories and his list of players we were definitely signing in the January transfer window.
Not many people know this, but we built a small room in the base of the statue for Dai Hunt to live in, hence how he never misses a thing down there.
The door is just behind one of the plaques if you look carefully enough.
On April 23rd next year (St George's Day!!) we'll all be celebrating the centenary of our greatest footballing trophy win!!
