League 1 Done 🐦

Really enjoyed this season. Played some good football at times and scored some crackers!

Looking forward to next season. Comfortable mid table for me.

But according to some we don’t shoot enough

There will always be those who think that they know football better than people who have worked in football all of their lives.

Fortunately this board seems to be a lot better than the others for that sort of thing

As for the season it was an enjoyable one.

Different teams, different grounds. A hard reset basically.

The relegation helped us in my opinion, not everyone will agree - would we have seen the likes of Lawler, Bagan, J Colwill excel so much without it? Probably not.

Pretty confident we will be at least mid table next season

We were on a shit trajectory. Had we stayed up last season it would have been more of the same until we got relegated. Didn't want to go down but it was a fun season and like you say a lot of those positives probably wouldn't have happened without the reset

I don't think there will be many who, after the season finished, would argue that relegation did us a huge favour. And almost no one who would have shared that opinion at the start.

I'm sure pointy could come up with some sort of argument

Crunching some stats after seeing the most goals one above.

Most goals scored - as above!

2nd most shots per game, but 1st on target shots per game. Rubbishes the "we don't shoot enough comments"

Highest team AVG. rating of all players - suggesting best performing team in the league.

3rd least conceded and clean sheets.

Most big chances missed - suggesting we should've scored even more!!!

4th hitting woodwork - 18 times!

Highest possession. 63%

Most acc passes a game 433.

23rd, 24th and 24th on tackles, interceptions and blocks - we didn't have do much defending!!

2nd corners per game - feel we could've done more with these!

Anyway... I'd say looking at the above we certainly deserve to go up. Probably as the best footballing side. BBM certainl has given us an identity. Can't lose if you've got the ball! We'll be fine next year.

Lincoln win the efficiency award. Hardly missed any chances and made most of their limited possession. Feel they'll struggle next year.

The "Can't lose if you have the ball" mantra is a bit odd since that's exactly what we did under Warnock - not care about possession stats, but care about goal stats.

Just shows there are different ways of approaching things.

Teams at higher levels seem to be happy to go more direct at times, it would be so Cardiff to adopt "modern football" when teams starting to turn away from it.

Think it was a given we would be top of possession stays ,but it was also mixed from time to time with deep diagonal passes from defence to the wingers that also payed dividends .Overall a great season with some fantastic football .The hope is we continue in the same vein next term ,and are flirting with the top five rather than the relegation places .But mid table obscurity is probably the best we'll get and realistically that will be fine.🐦BLUEBIRDS🐦

Under Warnock it wasn't "you can't lose if you don't have the ball". It was "you can win if you don't have the ball". That's how Lincoln won the league. I know which side I'd rather watch.
