Nathan Trott

Agree we need to see more but writing him off after one performance where he was basically our only player in our half for most of the game seems a bit premature
Ok I accept that.
The other side of that is he had a good opportunity to impress.
I never heard anyone say the keeper had no chance but I did hear at least twice the keeper should have done better.
I really hope I am wrong honestly but sometimes you see a player and get a feeling about him.
Hopefully I got this one wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

BBM will have a better idea by seasons start, he'll probably give him a run of games at some point but if he's not up to it he won't be playing, simples.

I think that last day was just one of those mad days in football that happen

To be honest any keeper would look good against Northampton on that day. We need to see a bit more of him .
and in the same vein any keeper would look poor against Mansfield on that day.

First: No chance, Willock lost his man at the front post for the short ball and couldn't get through the crowd to the back post in time. Also made a great save from the exact same thing happening beforehand.

Second: No chance, one on one from the halfway line with no centre half cover. Striker maneuvered him into the middle of his goal and placed it well into the bottom corner.

Third: Another tough one as placed into the side netting in the opposite corner. Putting this on him would be harsh.

Fourth: Another one that was a one on one from the halfway line and he visibly loses his footing on the penalty spot leaving an easy chip over him for the striker.

Fifth: This is the only one I think blame can be apportioned and even then I don't think it's critically on him. He's facing an incoming winger pushing onto their stronger right foot going across goal but because he's going so far across he's got no choice but to move into the centre of the goal and it's well placed to the side he's moving away from. Maybe a little bit of blame as he's flat footed but equally it's a well placed shot and more importantly a well timed shot from the winger.

I think anyone giving him serious doubts after this game is being a bit harsh really. I know conceding five makes it look like the keepers had a shite game but he made more good saves than mistakes leading to goals against Mansfield and more crucially the entire team was on the beach or nursing serious hangovers - if they were old enough to drink that is.

Sorry not all his fault but he looked like a fish out of water not knowing what to do and ended up doing very little
