EFL fixture release day confirmed for 2026/27 season​

The Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two 2026/27 fixtures will be confirmed on Thursday, 25 June at 12pm.

Round One of the Carabao Cup will kick off the brant new campaign, before the Championship, League One and League Two begin the following weekend.

Key dates for the 2026/27 season​

• Carabao Cup - Round One: 7–9 August 2026
• Sky Bet EFL - Opening weekend: 14–16 August 2026
• Vertu Trophy - Round One: Week commencing 21 September 2026

How can I find out who my Club are playing?​

All fixtures will be published on EFL channels, with full Club-by-Club fixtures available on EFL.com and individual Club platforms.

When will the draw for the Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy be made?​

The Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy draws are to take place on fixture release day, with full details to be confirmed.

Broadcast selections in 2026/27​

The opening weekend of EFL fixtures across the Championship, League One and League Two will be live on Sky Sports and Sky Sports+ and confirmed on EFL fixture release day.

• By 2 July 2026, selections will be announced in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played before the end of September 2026.
• By 31 July 2026 selections will be confirmed in respect of all live broadcast matches to be played up to, and including, the weekend of 8-11 January 2027.
• By 6 November 2026, selections shall be announced in respect of all matches to be played up to, and including, the midweek of 2-3 March 2027.

This once again provides fans and Clubs up to five months’ notice. By selecting TV picks early and giving much more notice, fans will be able to plan with certainty when making travel and any hotel arrangements.

• Selections for matches scheduled for the weekend of 5-8 March 2027 will be announced by 5 February 2027, followed by weekly announcements looking four-weeks ahead. (For example, the weekend of 12-15 March 2027 will be announced by Friday 12 February 2027).
• Selections for matches scheduled for the penultimate weekend of the regular season will be announced three weeks in advance.
• Selections for matches scheduled for the final weekend of the regular season will be announced the week prior.

I don’t mind so much if the cup starts first but is midweek but for me the opening weekend should be the first league fixtures.
