By virtue of places being allocated geographically, there is always going to be plenty of cannon fodder from outside Europe and South America, even more so with 48 teams.

Wales don't deserve their spot at the WC but they're probably better than at least a quarter of the teams in this nonsense expanded format. Our play off route probably harder than getting out of any of the groups. There will be more South American cannon fodder in there now - the old system benefited them by making qualification genuinely competitive. FIFA are chasing money and nothing else
