I don't remember the ad, but I am sure that when the buses changed from maroon, for a while there were orange ones and turquoise ones. I can see that some buses are now both colours, but I can't find any reference to or photos of the plain blue ones.

There was a people’s vote I think between the orange and turquoise in the early seventies, before 1973 because I still lived in Canton when they had the vote

I'm confused...... Wharton Street runs between St Mary Street and Working Street, with Baker's Row off on the right?

Then and now,the old open air fruit market on the Hayes, I had a Saturday job on the stall just out of the picture, the Gape brothers who were also bookies down the Arms Park dog track

I worked for the younger Gape (Terry) at the new site on Barrack Lane. His old man Brian worked with me. His brother Gaffer worked several of the stalls.

Also, the Tucker family in that photo had the stall next door.

About 12 barrow boys made the move to the new site.
