Pick 3 Ninian Park Games

Just looked, and Aarhus knocked us out next round and played Barcelona in the next round. Barcelona beat them 1-0 over two legs (Linekar). Barcelona at NP in 1988 would have been amazing.

Aarhus had 3700 for our game, and 25,000 for Barcelona.
Remember feeling quite optimistic about our chances going into the Aarhus game! Yeah Barcelona at home in the next round would have probably made the top three list

13 October 1964
City 1 v Esbjerg
First ever European Cup winners Cup game v Esbjerg Danish team nothing of note really,City won 1-0 in front of a tiny crowd of about 8,000,Peter King scoring the only goal with a header, if my memory serves me.What it did herald was years of some great European nights under the floodlights of NP.
26 December 1967
City 3 v Villa 0
The game famous for ending the career of Bobby Brown our centre forward at the time City had already had to make a sub at half time, In those days only one sub was permitted. So Brown's injury took us down to 10 men,the irony was he was lying injured when Toshack headed us into the lead.
Brown was carried off on a stretcher, only for minutes later Dave Carver our right back, who I don't remember ever seeing him out with injury gets what turned out to be a cartilage injury and he has to be carried off,so know City are down to 9 men.Somehow driven on by an emotional NP crowd we end up winning the game 3-0 with new signing Leslie Lea being the 2 goal hero
Promting the chant in future games of Sha La Sha La Leslie Lea:aya:
City 2 v SV Hamburg 3
European Cup winners Cuo 3nd leg Semi final
May 1st 1968
You'll have to learn of this game from someone else cause even after 57 years it's to painful to talk about

Leeds 2002,simply you could taste the atmosphere.

Wales v Yugoslavia, robbed by an East German referee and what a hostile atmosphere.

Hereford, 35,000 crowd more like 45,000.

That Yugoslavia match was on YouTube but may have been taken down. Welsh fans singing Cardiff, later chanting sieg heil at the ref.

Anyone here for Wales v Scotland in 1985? The Jock Stein night.

Leeds was wild Yugoslavia was as wild and Hereford was the night the City fans shut Malcolm Allison up:hehe:

Man Utd 74 was a memorable day for all the wrong reasons, great at the time though.

This was before the Euros wasn't it, and this was the quarters. Didn't realise the rest was being in Yugoslavia. I saw the highlights, and could watch as a "neutral" but the ref was either clueless or on the take.

At one time during the game the whole Bob Bank were sieg heiling ! Crazy day !

My dad was at the game with our cousin who died of a brain tumour a few years back. My cousin ran on the pitch, saw the bloke with the corner flag, and thought he had a gun. :hehe:

That Yugoslavia game is not on Youtube anymore. The away leg is. It has to be around somewhere.

I did spot this one though, when City beat Spurs at NP. Old style NP, atmosphere, big match. Stick it in a bottle and sell it at a tenner in the club shop.

I think most people expected Peter Sayer's career to kick on from that game, but although he moved on from City and played top division for a while, it didn't really happen

That's precisely why I didn't include it, although it was probably the best atmosphere I have ever encountered at a football match.
