I've worked south west, central and north London and there's definite differences.
Some of the areas in Tottenham/Broadwater Farm I wouldn't go in a tank.
Significant parts are - but then again I'm aware I deal with the worse parts of society.
I see the crime statistics for the City very regularly and there's been significant upticks in certain crimes in the last decade for sure.
Some are down, like murder, but that's completely outside our control. Crimes that affect the public on the street are vastly up, from shopliftings to phone thefts and robberies, both e-bike enabled and on foot. Burglaries are up, assaults are up and the like.
Every morning I come in to a minimum of five robberies across the two boroughs I work on alone.
When were you there last?
There's always going to be ups and downs with different types of crime and doubtless there are terrible parts of town. My experience is obviously only my own and anecdotal but I feel Central London is nicer and a bit safer than it was say 20-30 years ago.

Work once and other times for pleasure. Went to Wales away game and City at Orient though wasn't up there specifically for the latter.
