Good news if no rape took place, odd that it took all this time to get to this point though.

I'd hope the police thoroughly investigated the allegation, something that probably takes time.

A couple of days shy of 2 weeks seems a long time for a woman that just bumped her head and imagined a gang rape.

It’s lightening fast in terms of the average rape investigation time taken to charging

Well obviously. If an actual rape takes place and there's suspect to round up and evidence to gather then of course.

Just seems like a long time to end up saying "nothing to see here".

I’d prefer such allegations are taken extremely seriously and some time taken to gather the facts personally. I don’t think a couple of weeks unreasonably long at all. Just perspectives I suppose

Take her statement, assess her head injury, look at the alleged crime scene, look at local CCTV.

Still seems like a long time to me.

I assume they did all those things and more, to a high degree of granularity, all of which takes time to do

Like I said, perspectives

Seems like if there was no crime committed, the police would have had a good idea by day two.

The police would have been more aware than anyone of their own history of repeatedly covering this kind of crime up and considering the strength of feeling on the topic, it seems more than a bit irresponsible to have kept the public in the dark for this length of time.

All in all though, good news if no rape had occurred.

Seems to me this is based on little more than your own idea of how long police work should take

As I said, I’d prefer no stone was left unturned in cases like this, and I’m sure you’re aware of my opinion that the public has little right to know the ins and outs of an ongoing investigation.

All in all good news though

Well mine is based on actual statistics but we’re all free to form our own views
Where did you find statistics on alleged rapes that turned out not to be rapes and how long it took the police to close the investigation?

I’ve been looking at overall investigation lengths and those for sexual offences. The average is well past the 2 weeks taken and certainly past the couple of days from your perspective.

After all, neither of us have any idea about any of the police work/statements/evidence gathering actually done in this case. Seems to be the logical way to get to a yardstick.

Sorry, I was asking where you find statistics on alleged rapes that turned out not to be rapes and how long it took the police to close the investigation?

You seem to have posted the same post again.

You were saying your perspective was based on "actual statistics" and I'm asking where you were looking to get statistics on alleged rapes that turned out not to be rapes and how long it took the police to close the investigation.

A link or something would suffice, since you've been recently looking at it.
