If we brought in the right manager like Bellers. He would bring us right up to date and will build using our youth and progressing them and will have the respect.
I'm not sure Bellers is the right man, right now.
Right now, like it or not, we need a McCarthy, we need a Warnock. I still can't believe we are seriously having to have a relgation discussion, but we are where we are.
I'd love to see Bellamy take over, but I'm not sure that will happen with Tan.
For me, we need a director of football. A former player ideally. We have former players we could have, but we use talented guys like Roger Gibbins to do pre-match talks to the prawn sandwich eaters ffs, when was the last time the board asked someone like him for his opinion on playing matters?
I say a former player for a number of reasons:
1. (Obviously) He will understand football
2. Should understand the kind of football the fans want to see
3. Develop a playing philosophy and long term strategy, from youth development through to transfer strategy. - for example, in my view, Harry Wilson is a great player, but he's not so good at what we seem to be asking him to do. So, if, for example, our strategy is to hoof it upfield, DON'T sign players like Harry Wilson just because they're available, sign players who fit the strategy.
4. He could advise a young manager, like Bellamy, but otherwise act as a buffer between the manager and the board
I'd want to see a minimum of one youth player per season make it through to the senior team. Otherwise the youth manager is out.
I just think that we're best placed to do all that in the championship, go down and I think wed be fucked.
