If they'd won the appeal people would be saying it was a charade. Even if the panel is genuinely independent people would still doubt their motives

Hull already got lawyers ready for legal action, arguing that they should have just been promoted once Southampton got kicked out. If they lose the final it seems they got their argument sorted and in early.

Exactly. Annuling the Boro games could create a precedent for other clubs. I think Oxford might be one in which case it might affect the relegation places.
Reckon Southampton admitted to 3 teams they spied on to save face, Oxford were 23rd at the time they spied on them, there’s no chance they randomly decided to do that. They spied or at least attempted to spy on every opponent they had this season.
Hull should’ve just got promoted tho. On the night, Boro were beaten fair and square, this only opens up a can of worms because Hull could (rightly) claim they should’ve gone up anyway, Wxm could argue they’ve had a place in the playoffs stolen by Southampton and even the relegated teams could argue a case should they find evidence given this intern was hardly fucking incognito in his endeavours

I didn't look back at the results before I posted that, there could even be a case for all of Southampton's season to be expunged and to relegate them with 0 points.
The focus has been on the poor sap caught spying, but he must have been reporting back to others more senior at the club.
I wonder whether the real shitstorm will happen when the FA start proceedings against the individuals involved. Unlike the EFL, they'll be able to take their time asking questions and that will probably uncover the fact that the process was widespread throughout the season.
