This has the appearance of one of those stories that just isn't going away

If found guilty Southampton have basically fucked up the whole playoff competition, really disrupting Hull's chances for planning for next season while Middlesbrough probably have to keep their squad in training just incase.

Can't even begin to think what points deduction they might get for next season

Can they even get a points deduction if they get promoted? Completely different leagues. I dunno?

Still unsure if the play off will go ahead on the scheduled date as they could get chucked out of the competition

I don't think the EFL has got the balls to throw them out. I hope they do. They're selling tickets to Saints fans aren't they? It's a right can of worms.

As more Championship clubs come forward with accusations the EFL have got one hell of a decision to make. Middlesbrough will be taking them to court I think if there's no action as apparently they've served up irrefutable evidence

It was said yesterday that they could change the date or even the venue

I remember when Leeds got caught a few years ago it was a fine which Bielsa paid himself. Bit of a stupid thing to do and i cant believe Southampton didnt have access to all Middlesbrough matches through Sky.

The rules weren't in place then though were they?

They only watched training sessions ffs.
Should hold them behind closed doors then shouldn't they ffs

Am in two minds about it. Have chnaged my stance over a few days.

Was the fella filming in a public place, or was it private land?

Middlesbrough's responsibility to be more secretive if they don't want that to happen to them if he is filming outside their premises imo.

If the Southampton chap is on Boro property at the time, I think it undoubtedly changes it.

Seems weird and desperate for Southampton to sanction it, and if the EFL state it is not acceptable for any training ground "spying" then surely you kick them out.

My question, what would stop a fan of a club, without any order from a football club, get a vantage point and film training of an opposition team and try to pass on footage to their club?

Ultimately, the EFL are lousy for not having preset the sanctions. They are asleep at the wheel for not setting strict sanctions before this would inevitably happen again after Leeds did it.

Even though you're right here the fact that the spy was in Southampton's employ makes it a problem. Clearly there's opening for a business for random people to be made from just filming training sessions around the country

Bielsa admitted after he left they tried to spy on every club they played that year...Quite open about it...My mates a Southampton fan and he told me that this analyst is a trainee analyst that took it upon himself to do it trying to impress...

Here he is anyway

Knew there was a bit of commotion about it but if they don't have a secure training ground then they're partially to blame. It's cheating but teams are always after an advantage and it's not illegal
