Summer Transfer Window

Looks like Brennan Johnson is going to Spurs for £47.5m:yikes:

Is it just me, or are clubs still a bit dense 🤔 ,with ffp in full force, I see teams still doing 4 & 5 year contracts 👀👀 if things don't work out in 1st season, for whatever reason, they are then likely stuck with that player, or have to mutually agree a termination of contract, thus paying the player a chunk of what he'd have earned! I just don't get it, who is in control of these clubs finances? Unless your buying a superstar, that you want nobody else to have ala Madrid v bale, it's gonna cost the club.

They do it to amortise the cost of the player over a longer period. This is why Chelsea are signing players to 7/8 year contracts. It means they can split the transfer fee over 7 or 8 years in their accounts to lessen the impact of what they're spending in FFP terms.

You'd imagine this kind of stuff will probably bite them in the arse at some point if they end up with a squad full of expensive players on long contracts but I guess we'll find this out eventually.

Yeah, I see why they do it, but why have a player for that long, whilst still paying their wages? I know a lot get loaned, thus another team picks up some of the tab( or all of it in some cases) I didnt realise they could split the fee over such a lenght of time tbh, deems a big loophole to avoid ffp breaches, that needs to be looked at.I wouldnt sell a car for instance, and split the repayments over 8 yr period maybe 1 yr to a good friend 🤣🤣:aya:

I’m pretty sure I read that the loophole has now been closed to stop other clubs doing it, and that even though it was bending the rules Chelsea won’t be punished for it.

They are possibly looking for friendly teams in Arab regimes to buy these players off them for a lot of money when they cease to fulfil their usefulness.

You twats are making these names up shirley? Wtf?

There's always loopholes. The Siopis signing looks like a right scam! :hehe:

Keep to the rules (just about) and everything will be ok.
